General Information

The Nürnberg Digital Festival (NUEDIGITAL) is an open platform for networking and exchange that brings together people from business, academia, education, and culture to discuss and actively drive the topics of digital transformation. The program is designed for everyone who wants to help shape the digital future—from interested beginners and students to experts and decision-makers. As part of the regional innovation ecosystem, the festival creates spaces for dialogue, knowledge transfer, and fresh ideas. With more than 18,000 participants, over 240 events, and around 260 partner organizations, NUEDIGITAL is the largest tech festival of its kind in southern Germany. Community is at the heart of the festival: the agenda is created by the participating companies and institutions themselves. Across the entire metropolitan region, they showcase the region’s economic and creative potential through talks, workshops, and networking events focused on digitalization and transformation.

The next Nürnberg Digital Festival will be held from June 22 to July 2, 2025. Don’t want to miss a thing? Follow us on LinkedIn or Instagram and subscribe to the NUEDIGITAL newsletter to stay updated on all the latest news.

The Nürnberg Digital Festival doesn’t have one central location. It’s decentralized, with over 240 events happening throughout the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, mainly in the Nürnberg, Erlangen, and Fürth area. You’ll find all the details about locations, dates, and times starting April 28, once the program is live. Plus, some events will be virtual! Just check the event details to see if it’s on-site or virtual.

NUEDIGITAL is for everyone who wants to actively shape the digital future—whether you’re a tech professional, founder, student, or career changer. What makes it unique is that participants decide for themselves which of the 245+ events to attend, or even host an event of their own. More than 260 regional partners shape the festival, making it a decentralized network rather than a one-person show. It’s about participating, not just watching. NUEDIGITAL is an open, participatory festival designed by around 260 partners, with attendees choosing freely from over 240 events.

NUEDIGITAL is an open, participatory festival driven by the engagement of its community. There are several ways to get involved. As a sponsor, you help ensure that valuable, free events focused on digitalization can continue to take place. In this role, you are not just a financial supporter—you can actively help shape NUEDIGITAL. As an event organizer, you can host an event as part of the Nuremberg Digital Festival and position your organization or yourself as a digital leader. If you are interested, please contact us at info@nuernberg.digital. The easiest way to get involved is as a participant: attend events, gain new perspectives, ask questions, and connect with others. Most events are open to the public and easy to access.

In the NUEDIGITAL program, a track groups all the events around a specific theme, such as Marketing & Communications, Work Culture & Health or Data Science & AI. Tracks make it easier for participants to get an overview of the program and find events they’re excited about.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Here we answer the most important questions – short, honest, without marketing fluff.

Not all events are subject to a participation fee. Nonprofit and volunteer-based organizations have the opportunity to host events at the festival free of charge. Non-commercial community events, events by and for educational institutions, as well as events for children and young people are also exempt from the participation fee. This ensures that NUEDIGITAL remains a truly participatory format, created by the community for the community. Please contact the NUEDIGITAL team, and we will be happy to review whether your event qualifies for free registration and work with you to find a suitable solution.

It’s possible that your desired time slot on a specific day and track is no longer available. This means another event is already scheduled to start in that track at that time. To allow participants to attend as many events as possible, only one event per track can begin on the hour between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM. That's why it's a good idea to submit your event early to secure your preferred time.

Yes, of course. You may submit as many events as you like, as long as they are thematically related to the overarching topic of technology and digitalization. Please note that a contribution fee applies to each registered event. Johanna can provide you with further details.

The festival offers event hosts more than just a platform: we provide professional participant management, ensure visibility, and create a space where innovative ideas can flourish and meaningful connections can be made. Before and during the festival, the entire Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is branded in NUEDIGITAL’s signature yellow, and the festival is highly present in digital media. To sustain this platform and allow most events to remain free for participants, we depend on financial contributions. Social inclusion is central to our mission, which is why we’ve implemented a tiered funding model. This approach provides both small businesses and large companies a fair opportunity to join the community and contribute to shaping the festival. Sponsorships alone are not enough to cover costs, so every contribution helps us achieve this shared vision.

For participants

Most of the events at NUEDIGITAL are totally free. If an event does have a fee, it’s up to the event hosts to set the price – just check the event details for that info. The idea behind the festival is to bring people in the region together, create an open, hands-on space for exploring the digital future, and make sure it’s accessible to everyone. You’ll find all the info, including potential ticket costs, in our program.

You need an account on the NUEDIGITAL website to sign up for events. All important information about the events you sign up for will be sent to the email address linked to your account. In your profile, you can view the events you’ve signed up for and make changes on your own, like signing up for new ones or canceling. If you already have an account, keep in mind that you’ll need to reset your password once due to the website update in 2025. If you don’t have an account yet, just register on the website.

For event hosts

Each of the ten theme tracks only allows one event to start on the hour. This setup helps participants attend as many events in a single track as possible without overlaps. If the start time you want isn’t available in the form, it means another event is already scheduled for that time in your chosen track. Just pick a different time instead. Don’t worry—your event’s length isn’t affected by the start time, so you’re free to decide how long it will run. IMPORTANT: Once you pick a start time, it’s reserved for your event for four weeks. But if you don’t accept the terms and conditions within that time, the slot will be released for others.

Your desired start time in your chosen track is reserved for you as soon as you save your event as a draft on the website. This means no other event can take that time slot as long as your event remains a draft or has already been officially submitted. Tip: If you plan to make changes to your event, save it as a draft early to secure your preferred time!

Starting February 10, 2026, you can register your event directly via the NUEDIGITAL website. Before then, please discuss your event idea with Johanna in advance. When you’re ready to submit, you’ll need a clear event title, a short and engaging description, an image that fits your event, and info about the venue. If you’re not sure about anything, Johanna can help, or you can check the website for details closer to the date.

Whether you’re planning a 15-minute short talk or a full-day workshop, you decide how long your event will be. The key is to match the duration to the format. In-person workshops can work well at half a day or longer if the content is engaging and varied. Single talks or pitches—online or on-site—should generally be shorter. From our experience, online events work best when they run between 15 and 45 minutes. Not sure which format or setup is right for your event? Johanna is happy to help.

If you’re not sure what type of event works for NUEDIGITAL or how to present your topic in the best way, Johanna is here to help to plan and tailor your event so it’s just right for the festival.

For Volunteers

As a volunteer, you’ll support the festival on a voluntary basis during our major events—Opening, AI Camp, and Closing—as well as in other exciting tasks throughout the festival week. Just reach out and let us know how you'd like to help! Volunteers can assist in many different areas, including check-in and accreditation, participant support, helping out with speakers and stages, and handling setup and logistics.

No prior experience is needed! We welcome new faces and fresh energy, whether you’re already part of the community or experiencing the festival for the first time. Before your shift, you'll receive onboarding and a detailed briefing to make sure you're well-prepared. All you need is motivation, teamwork, and a willingness to lend a hand. You should be available for at least one shift during the festival.

As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to connect with inspiring people from the digital and creative industries while getting exclusive behind-the-scenes access. You'll also have opportunities to develop new skills, take on responsibilities, and actively shape the digital future of the region. To show our appreciation, you’ll receive a festival goodie bag, meals during your shifts, and a festival certificate recognizing your contribution. This certificate can be a great addition to your resume or LinkedIn profile. Plus, you'll become part of our volunteer network, allowing you to stay connected with the community even after the festival. Outside of your shifts, you can also attend most of the festival’s events for free.

Unfortunately, we can’t cover travel or accommodation expenses. However, if you’re coming from out of town and need recommendations for affordable lodging, we’re happy to help with suggestions.

Yes! We want you to have fun, meet new people, and feel like part of the community. That’s why we host a kickoff event where you can meet your team before the festival starts. After the festival, we’ll invite you to a volunteer appreciation party where everyone can reconnect and share their experiences. Step outside your usual circle, see the festival from a whole new perspective, and become part of a unique community!

There are many exciting ways to get involved at the Nürnberg Digital Festival. At Check-in & Accreditation, you'll welcome festival guests, distribute badges and materials, and ensure a smooth entry process. In Stage & Speaker Support, you'll assist speakers, keep track of schedules, manage event spaces, and help everything run smoothly on stage. The Community Support team takes care of info points and merch stands while answering festival guests’ questions. If you prefer working behind the scenes, the Logistics & Setup Crew is the place for you—you’ll help with setup and takedown, distribute materials, and keep things running efficiently. Creative minds can join the Media Crew, capturing special festival moments with a camera or assisting the team in making NUEDIGITAL more visible. If you have a unique skill that perfectly fits the festival but doesn’t quite fit into these categories, you can contribute in the Your Unique Superpower section and bring your own talents to the event.
