By now, everyone is familiar with the fascinating robots that race against humans, assemble cars or even assist doctors. Robots and AI systems have long been a conscious or unconscious part of our everyday lives. Wouldn't it be exciting if young people could already understand how a robot works - by building one themselves? This event will show you that it doesn't have to be too complicated or too expensive.
Perhaps you would also like to know for yourself what possibilities technologies such as AI systems or 3D printers open up, especially in educational contexts, and above all how such technologies can be viewed with the necessary critical distance from an ethical and legal perspective. Satisfy your curiosity at three different stations that invite you to discover, participate and think along:
Station 1: The Connect Youth Media Centre - Playing with robots: Game-Based Learning meets Maker Literacy
What is the connection between Minecraft and 3D printing or robots and sumo battles? At the Connect youth media centre, children and young people experience how they can acquire important future skills through playful, hands-on methods. By building scrap robots and designing their own game designs for 3D printing, participants develop digital skills, creativity and teamwork. They learn to actively use technology and find solutions together.
Station 2: Get to know pib - the humanoid robot you can build yourself.
pib, developed by isento GmbH, is an AI-capable humanoid robot from the 3D printer - and a genuine open source project. The aim is to make robotics and AI accessible in a playful and practical way. Whether in schools, universities or as a private project: pib invites you to get active, build, programme and be part of the community. Discover at this station how easy and fascinating it is to experience future technologies.
Station 3: The DigiLLab at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg has implemented the topics of 3D printing, AI and robotics in teacher training. Come and talk about future-oriented teacher training: What should tomorrow's teachers learn? What skills should be promoted for students and how can they be taught? Test your own knowledge and try to create a 3D model yourself.
Finally, you can look forward to a panel discussion that will address ethical, social and pedagogical perspectives in a critical and future-oriented manner.
