The NUEDIGITAL Doctrine
The Community IS the Festival

The Community IS the Festival

We’re not just an event with attendees — we’re a movement of doers. The 240+ events don’t happen for the community, they come from the community. There’s no audience here, only creators.

What that means: If you’ve got an idea, want to run a workshop, or feel like sharing what you know — then you’re already part of the festival. We’re not asking for your resume or your company name. What we want to know is: What do you want to make happen?
This kind of radical participation is what makes the festival what it is: Germany’s second-biggest digital festival, built by the energy of hundreds of people who aren’t okay with the status quo.

Botton-Up instead of Top-Down

Innovation doesn’t come out of boardrooms — it starts from the ground up. We’re not here to filter ideas, we’re here to grow them. Got something out there? Give it a shot. Everyone’s welcome, and the best stuff finds its way on its own.
We’ve stuck to this from day one — back when we were just a tiny Web Week with 8 events. No masterplans, no big-name consultants, no trendspotters. Just open space to try things out.
You don’t need to ask for permission — bring your idea, and we’ll make it happen together. Even the wild ones. Especially those. That openness is what made NUEDIGITAL what it is today: 240+ events, each one carrying the unique fingerprint of its creator.

Totally decentralized

There’s no center — just a bunch of nodes doing their thing. More than 190 organizations run their own events independently. The festival team’s role? To empower, not police.
This kind of distributed brainpower keeps the community strong, creative — and totally ungovernable (in the best way).
Decentralization isn’t some buzzword to us. It’s systemized anarchy — for real. Events pop up everywhere: university auditoriums, converted carpet stores that double as VR centers — you name it.
Organizers get full creative freedom. Is it messy sometimes? Yep. Is it ever dull? Never. This structure kept us going through storms that would’ve sunk top-down events.
Think of it like the internet: decentralized, tough, and impossible to turn off.

TECH TO THE PEOPLE

Tech should bring people together, not leave them out. Digital change is for everyone—not just computer science grads. We're breaking down the barriers to digital knowledge.
That’s more than just a motto—it’s how we roll. Free events aren’t the exception, they’re the standard. NUEDIGITAL turns tech talk into real talk and creates spaces where “dumb questions” are actually the most important ones. We explain blockchain in a way your grandma can get, and show tradespeople how AI can totally change the game for their business. Elitist? That’s not us. We make elite stuff open to all.

Deep Dive meets Beginnings

The Nürnberg Digital Festival is home to the nerdiest tech niches and a launchpad for total digital newbies. No experts, no inspiration. No beginners, no change. Around here, that’s not a contradiction—it’s a perfect match.
You’ll see kernel developers debugging side-by-side with students building their first websites. Hardcore crypto debates at 9 a.m., “My First TikTok” workshops at 10? Yep, that’s normal. That range isn’t a trade-off—it’s our superpower.
Experts come here to meet their peers and to spark something in the next generation. Who says you can’t dive into quantum computing in the morning and hit up a digital art party that night?

Community-first economy

Money should never be the reason good ideas don’t happen. If you’ve got the means, you help cover for others. Big players back the little ones. Commercials support nonprofits.
Our funding model? Think Robin Hood for the digital world: Corporations and successful startups aren’t just buying attention for themselves—they’re helping student clubs, social entrepreneurs, and experimental artists get a shot.
Capitalism? Sure — but the kind that works for everyone. This kind of cross-funding isn’t charity—it’s an investment in the community that’ll be hiring talent tomorrow.
Diversity as Default

Diversity as Default

Monoculture kills innovation. Whether it’s AI, the arts, robotics, or social change—diversity isn’t just welcomed, it’s expected.

At NUEDIGITAL, worlds collide—and that’s where the magic happens. Designers cross paths with privacy advocates. Founders link up with gamers. Craftspeople meet cutting-edge tech.
Our 10 tracks aren’t boxes to stay in—they’re launchpads for crossing boundaries. No echo chambers here—we’re all about a controlled culture clash. Because the best ideas always come from the edges, not the center.

When everything comes together, it adds up to more than you'd expect.

240+ events aren’t just standalone sessions. They’re part of a living, breathing network—where the unplanned collisions matter just as much (or more) than the scheduled talks.
Your festival badge? It’s your all-access pass—use it! Jump from machine learning to digital art, from startup pitches to deep philosophy convos.
This festival is designed for serendipity: long breaks, shared spaces, and spontaneous run-ins. That next unicorn startup idea? It might come over a beer between sessions. Planning is good—but chance is better.

Rooted locally, connected globally

The Nürnberg Digital Festival proves you don’t need Silicon Valley to do world-class digital. All it takes is people with backbone and passion—right here in the heart of Franconia.
This region isn’t random, it’s a statement: hidden champions, top-notch universities, bold startups, and yeah—a little Franconian stubbornness too. We don’t hide behind buzzwords—we show the world that innovation speaks German, with a Franconian accent.
And we’re not just local—we’re pulling in talent from Berlin, Vienna, even the Valley. Why? Because real community matters more than trendy zip codes.

Doings instead of Talks

Prototypes beat PowerPoints. Every time. This isn’t a conference—it’s a hands-on-maker festival. Here, we’re soldering, coding, printing, and most of all: trying things out.
“Fail fast, fail often” isn’t just a catchphrase—it is reality. We celebrate the creative crash just as much as the perfect launch. Hackathons here build real apps, not just slick slides.
The workshops leave you with actual skills, not just a stack of business cards. Perfection? That’s the enemy of progress—and excitement. Show us your hack, not your polished pitch deck.
Evolution through community

Evolution through community

The future doesn’t get planned—it gets space to grow. From Web Week to the Nürnberg Digital Festival, from 8 events to over 240—our path is shaped by the community, not some strategy doc.

This evolution? It wasn’t mapped out—it just happened. Because people had ideas and the guts to make them real. Tomorrow, it might be quantum computing or biotech that drives us—we don’t know, and that’s the beauty of it.
Being antifragile beats having a business plan. The festival isn’t thriving despite being unpredictable—it’s thriving because of it.
This doctrine isn’t a rulebook—it’s a promise: the community will stay rebellious, open, and a little uncomfortable. We’ll keep experimenting, pushing limits, and yes—sometimes failing. But we’ll never be boring.
