Process mining in the municipal environment - Lessons learned with/by the city of Nuremberg
The Office for Digitalization and Process Organization and the Cash and Tax Office of the City of Nuremberg are jointly testing Process Mining in the area of municipal receivables management. The goal is to analyze and optimize processes based on data. The Process Mining platform from the company Celonis, Munich, is being used. Dr. Lina Harispuru and Markus Härtl are looking forward to sharing the results and experiences of the first pilot phase with you.
Process Mining is a data-driven technology that makes real administrative processes visible based on system data. In this process, so-called event logs – that is, digital traces of individual process steps – are analyzed. This analysis enables an objective and detailed view of actual workflows in the system. The analyses are carried out via a dashboard of the Process Mining platform, which makes key figures and process variants visible. These then serve as the basis for developing measures to improve receivables management. The operational use of AI agents is planned for the next phase. They are then intended to take over routine tasks. All of this with the goals of creating relief for employees, advancing digital administrative transformation, and offering attractive workplaces.
