Europäische Metropolregion Nürnberg
Theresienstraße 9 90403 Nürnberg
The Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is one of Germany’s most diverse and economically strong regions. It comprises 23 districts and 11 independent cities – from Sonneberg in the north to Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in the south, from Kitzingen in the west to Tirschenreuth in the east. Around 3.6 million people live and work here in a region that combines urban dynamics, a strong SME sector, international companies, innovative universities and a high quality of life.
What makes the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region special is its unique combination of high-tech and a strong sense of home. Future technologies are developed here in fields such as digitalization, energy, mobility, health, production, artificial intelligence and sustainability. At the same time, the region offers short distances, affordable housing, strong networks and an environment that is attractive to professionals and families alike. As an EU Regional Innovation Valley, the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is one of Europe’s leading innovation locations and shows how technological progress, social responsibility and regional cooperation can shape the future together.
One example of how the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region makes innovation visible and tangible is the project InnoHikes | Next Level. The free app combines gaming, career orientation and location marketing in a playful way. In a jump’n’run game, students, young professionals and emerging talents discover regional employers, universities and innovation hubs. Instead of scrolling through traditional job ads, users collect points, complete missions and unlock real companies and institutions from the region.
InnoHikes demonstrates what modern talent engagement can look like: accessible, digital, interactive and close to the everyday lives of young people. The project makes the innovative strength of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region experienceable through play and opens up new pathways to career opportunities in the region – from the right university to an exciting employer. At the same time, it gives companies and institutions the opportunity to present themselves as part of a strong regional innovation ecosystem.
With projects like InnoHikes, the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region brings people, ideas and organizations together. It creates visibility for the region’s strengths, fosters networking and shows that the future is not only built in major global cities, but also wherever innovation, quality of life and collaboration come together.
