Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant future. It is already changing how artistic works are created, how culture becomes visible, how institutions operate, and how cultural practitioners shape their daily work. The question is no longer whether – but how we, as a cultural sector, want to engage with it.
On June 26, the Stiftung Kulturzukunft Bayern and the Kulturatlas Bayern invite all cultural actors in Bavaria to join this process. At the Neues Museum Nürnberg, we are creating an open space for orientation, exchange, and shared participation.
The day unfolds in two connected parts:
In the morning, experts from culture and technology will set the frame: What does AI mean as a structural shift – for society, for art, for the everyday work of cultural practitioners? What opportunities arise, what risks exist, and what stance does the cultural sector need to develop?
In the afternoon, the space belongs to the participants. In a participatory format, we will work together to surface what really matters: Where are the real pain points? What is missing – in terms of knowledge, exchange, or guidance? And what do cultural practitioners in Bavaria actually need to engage with AI on their own terms?
The outcomes of this day are not an endpoint. They feed into a longer-term, open process – anchored in the Kulturatlas Bayern as a digital platform and shared space for Bavaria's cultural community. What begins here will continue there.
This event is open to everyone working in or alongside the cultural sector in Bavaria – whether in institutions, as independent artists, in administration, education, or cultural policy, or as designers, developers, and technologists who want to help shape cultural transformation. No prior knowledge of AI is required. What counts is the willingness to think together.
