Current AI systems require powerful computers and enormous energy resources to process numbers and make decisions very quickly. On the other hand, while our brain cannot perform 1,000,000 multiplications in less than a second, it can make decisions in real-world scenarios that are far more robust than any human-built system. Brain-inspired technologies such as neuromorphic systems, developed by humans, are getting closer to brain-like processing with a fraction of the energy of today's systems. Using principles known in the brain, neuromorphic systems are the new frontier of AI, where robustness and efficiency come at the price of a few milliwatts. The talk will introduce neuromorphic systems and AI applications developed at the OHM.
